Senior Civil Engineer

Summary

The Senior Civil Engineer will support the delivery of civil engineering design for substations and associated infrastructure across the UK power sector. The role will involve the design and coordination of roads, drainage, hardstanding, levels, earthworks and other infrastructure associated with major engineering projects.

The successful candidate will work closely with internal teams and external project stakeholders to support the preparation and delivery of coordinated design information using modern digital engineering workflows.

Key Responsibilities

Civil Engineering Design

  • Prepare and review civil engineering design information for substations and associated infrastructure.
  • Assist with the design of roads, drainage, earthworks, hardstanding and site development works.
  • Coordinate civil design information with structural, architectural and M&E requirements.
  • Support the production of detailed engineering drawings, models and technical information.

Project Delivery

  • Work with project managers and senior engineers to support project delivery from initial design through to construction information.
  • Liaise with contractors, consultants and project teams to coordinate technical requirements.
  • Assist with programme management, technical coordination and design development.
  • Support project reporting and internal quality procedures.

Digital Engineering

  • Work within BIM-led design workflows using Revit, Civils 3D and associated software platforms.
  • Contribute to the coordination of design information using modern digital engineering tools.
  • Support the preparation of accurate, coordinated and well-structured engineering deliverables.

Skills & Experience

  • Experience in civil engineering design within an engineering consultancy environment.
  • Experience working on infrastructure, energy or substation-related projects would be beneficial.
  • Understanding of roads, drainage, levels and general site infrastructure design.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a project team and manage competing deadlines.
  • Experience using engineering software such as Civils 3D, AutoCAD or similar would be advantageous.
